You may ask, "Frankie, can I do the same workout Russian Commandos do?"  Yes, but you won't be lifting Russian Commando weight. Joint Strength

If you do resistance training incorrectly, you run the risk of developing muscular strength to the detriment of tendon and ligament strength.   Strong muscles with weak joints is like having a Ferrari engine in a Volkswagen - it's just no good!   Kettlebells encourage balance.  The ballistic nature of kettlebells strengthens your joints as well as your muscles.

 

Mobility

Stretching practitioners develop high levels of muscular flexibility without developing joint stability.  The have muscular flexibility, but not muscular strength and stability.   That is a prescription for injury!   Kettlebells teach flexibility by strength - the safe way to become flexible!

 

Movement Variety

So many exercise programs have limited ranges of motion.   The body can move so many directions.   Do you know what happens when you train the body in only a few directions?   INJURY!   Just ask an OLD SCHOOL powerlifter about his rotator cuff problems.

 

Lower Back Health

The body needs balance.   You can't be strong in one point and weak in another.   A weak part is a weak link.   If you got a weak link, you are going to break!   Quite a few of us have weak lower backs.   We'll tiptoe around our backs instead of strengthening them.  Kettlebells strengthen your back like nothing else!  

 

Positive Posture

If only our grandmothers could see us now.   We all need to be told, "STAND UP STRAIGHT!"   If our posture were better, you could forget about the high incidence of back, neck and shoulder injuries.   Kettlebells encourage an alternative positive posture!

Our bodies are capable of moving at higher speeds than we usually train.   We shy away from lifting because we think it will hurt us.   Dynamic movement (in progressive moderation) will actually make us more resilient.   What is great about kettlebells is that they build more resiliency with less impact than even less dynamic activities like jogging.

The one thing I make a point never to argue with is results.   Russia is known for its scientific prowess.   Scientists cannot figure out why kettlebells have such a powerful effect.   While they are busy figuring it out, let's you and me get in shape!
